I call this a "buffet table" because there is no other quick way to explain the size of this table. It's very large for how small it is while folded up. A few years ago I got a very similar version of this, but was not even a full 1 foot by 2 foot surface and the design was enough to prove its worth. This is an actual flat-top table that you can fold up and put in a bag. It makes no sense until you see it in action. I imagine before too long, you will be able to buy a tent that uses this same concept to provide quick easy walls that you just throw a large tarp over and get a quick setup that surpasses anything with poles....anyway, sorry I digress...let me explain the basic concept of how this works. This table uses many short, long pieces of lightweight aluminum to create an expandable/foldable yet sturdy top surface. The frame itself works on its own set of construction, just a few pieces of sturdy poles. The poles form the simple table base, and you just unfold the top to make your table. Admittedly, the final step of making sure everything has actually been done properly is a tad nerve-wracking, but only because the process was so easy to complete. If you read this and are still confused, it just may not be clear until you have seen it done or done it yourself. The price is high, but well worth it. I have owned a lot of standard foldable tables that require such a ridiculous amount of travel space and this one changes that whole equation. This is an honest game changer of a table, before too long this folding surface will be seen in many more applications.
This table is surprisingly strong for how small it packs down and how much it weighs. For car camping, this is a no-brainer as it takes up very little space. This is a portable table and therefore short. Its tallest setting is only 21", which for an adult sitting on a camping stool is the same height as your knees. The product photo shows people sitting around it, but it doesn't show that they are actually sitting on the ground, not chairs. This isn't a dealbreaker for me, but something to be aware of. This thing is super strong. The manufacturer seems unsure how strong. The product listing says 145 lbs but the tag on the storage bag says the safe capacity is 99 lbs. I weigh more than both ratings so I haven't tried sitting on it, but I can confirm that even when leaning on it with a good amount of force the aluminum slats barely flexed. I suspect that if you evenly load the tabletop you would bend the aluminum legs before the slats. At any rate, we won't be dancing on this table so it's more than strong enough for our purposes.
This table is perfect for car/campsite outings. Most of the developed sites have a picnic table and then we start staging food and cooking stuff around tree logs or tailgates because we run out of space. Or we put it all on the table to prep and cook then have to remove it so we can all eat. This table is a great solution. It weighs about 10 lbs and comes in a convenient holder/carrier (it keeps everything together). Assembly is easy - you pop the legs (they're bungee corded to their match), then add the crossbar, and then put on the top. It indicates it can hold 145 (meaning I could sit on it), but it doesn't seem like that weight could be held well unless it was evenly distributed (i.e. if I was to lay on it...though I didn't try this). The length is great - it'll hold a of items on the area.
Solid construction, straightforward assembly. The only thing is that it’s a little short (height is 21”, as in the description). Nicer than other camping tables I’ve gotten, but also more expensive, so you get what you pay for. This actually will seat 6 adults (2 on each long side and 1 at each end) if you don’t spread out too much. When I initially put it together, I was concerned that the base was a little tweaked (it didn’t sit evenly on all 4 legs unless I put pressure on it), but once the tabletop was unrolled, it fixed itself, so I was happy! The carry bag is great too—it’s got separate compartments for the tabletop and the legs. I don’t need to spend 20 minutes trying to cram things in so that it’ll zip up. I’m actually using it as a table to shoot pictures on with a backdrop when it’s not being used for camping, so I’m getting double mileage out of it! Great because it can be packed away when I’m done.
LOVE my new camping table! Yes, it takes about 5 - 8 more minutes than my other 2 smaller camping tables, but it is worth the time and energy to build this awesome table! Comes with a durable double-sided heavy-duty bag with 2 long handle straps. Tons of space on each side to take the table parts out and put them back in. LOVE it! Strong, durable metal legs and center support. The only difficult part I had was pressing down on the tiny silver « paper clip-like» pin to get each of the 4 bottom legs/feet in. I might use a thin glove or thin fabric to press each of the 4 silver metal protrusions next time. The table stands several inches higher than my smaller 2-piece portable camping tables and this table is much longer, stronger, and more stable. Absolutely LOVE my new table! I’m currently using this table indoors next to my couch so I can work on my 3D 3,000+ piece puzzle that I’m building! This table is the perfect mini workbench indoors! Ha! This table also comes with a bunch of nice button clip hooks! I intend to use some of these on my portable camping lights! I’ve never even seen button clip hooks on a camping table! VERY cool addition and concept! LOVE it! This table is pricey, but it’s the best portable camping table I’ve tested thus far. I highly recommend this sturdy, useful table! Enjoy!
